Frank Alonso

Frank Alonso of McGregor died Saturday morning, January 26, 2009, in Garland at the age of 71. Funeral services were 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 30, 2008, at Cole Funeral Home Chapel, 1113 West Fifth Street, McGregor with Rev. Julian Garcia officiating. Interment followed in Post Oak Cemetery near Oglesby.
Frank was born January 16, 1937, in the Neff Park area of McLennan County, the son of the late John Palomo and Theresa (DeLeon) Alonso. In 1970, he moved into McGregor and has lived in Rowlett since 2000.
Also preceding him in death were two brothers, John Alonso and Alex Alonso.
Survivors include two brothers, Otilio Alonso of Rowlett, Lupe Alonso of Alamogordo, New Mexico; two sisters, Theresa Guerro, Alice Garcia both of McGregor and many nieces and nephews.
Casketbearers were George Alonso, Marty Alonso, Tony Alonso, Frank DeLeon, Robert Garcia and David Guerra.

Bob Kattness

Bob Kattness of McGregor passed away early Monday morning, January 28, 2008, at the age of 87. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, January 31, 2008, at Cole Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. David Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in McGregor Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 P.M. Wednesday at Cole Funeral Home Chapel.
Mr. Kattness was born November 1, 1920, in Cicero, Indiana, the son of the late Robert Roy and Clara Maxine(Collins) Kattness where he was a 1938 graduate of Cicero High School. From December 10, 1942 until his honorable discharge November 4, 1945, he served his country in the United States Army during World War II in the European Theater, 84th Infantry Division, Recon Troop. His decorations include European-African-Middle Eastern Ribbon with 4 Bronze Service Stars, America Theater Service Ribbon, The Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal, to name a few. He was a member of the Bryant Oliver Post of the American Legion in McGregor. He was also a member of the Eagle Lodge in Indiana. Bob loved spending time with his family and grandchildren and in his spare time, enjoyed hunting and reading.
In 1949, he moved to McGregor from Indiana and was employed by Eisen Brothers Furniture Manufacturing and Perm-A-Dwell. On December 11, 1941, he married Dorothy Jane Street in Cicero, Indiana. She preceded him in death December 20, 1963. On August 18, 1966, he married the former Helen Faye Cargile in McGregor.
Also preceding him in death was a son, John Martino.
Survivors include his wife Helen of McGregor; three sons, Robert Kattness and wife Sue of Peachtree City, Georgia, Bill Kattness and wife Jamie of Anchorage, Alaska, Phillip Martino and wife Michele of McGregor; three daughters, Linda Baker and husband Kyle of Austin, Rhonda Cox of Temple, Lisa Kattness of Waco; a special daughter, Lila Fox and husband Paul of McGregor; twenty-one grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
