Bulldog Relays on tap for Thursday

Track and field will take center stage in McGregor on Thursday and Friday as some of the top athletes in the area converge on the community for the Bulldog Relays. In all, nine teams from throughout the area, including McGregor and Oglesby, will be competing.

The meet will get underway on Thursday afternoon with the varsity field events. Among the field events set to be held are the high jump, long jump, triple jump. shot put and discus.

The running finals will get underway at 5 p.m. with the varsity and junior varsity 3,200-meter races.

Following the completion of the 3,200-meter races, opening ceremonies will be held. From there, the running events will begin. Running events will be held in the following order: Thrower’s Relay, 4x100-meter relay, 800-meter run, 100-meter hurdles, 110-meter hurdles, 100-meter dash, 4x200-meter relay, 400-meter dash, 300-meter hurdles, 200-meter dash, 1,600-meter run and 4x400-meter relay.

Among the varsity teams set to participate in the meet are Reicher, Bremond, Bruceville-Eddy, Copperas Cove, Lorena, Oglesby, Rosebud-Lott, Waco Methodist Home and Waco Valor.

The meet will shift focus to the junior high level on Friday. Teams from Bishop Reicher, Bremond, Bruceville-Eddy, Jonesboro, Oglesby and Rosebud-Lott will join McGregor in the event.

Junior high field events will begin at 3:45 p.m. The running events will begin at 6 p.m.
