Elizabeth Ann Brisby, 83, of Richmond, passed from this life to the next on September 13, 2025. Elizabeth was born on January 17, 1942, in Vidor, Texas, to her parents, George Carroll Griffith and Lottie Gustavia Vaughn. A perpetual learner and teacher, Elizabeth used her purpose well, even traveling to China to teach English as a missionary. Her faith in Christ was the most important thing to her.
Elizabeth was also a lifelong musician and loved being a member of the church choir, playing the piano, and even substituting on the organ at First Baptist Church in Richmond. She also found a special place singing with the Del Webb Sweetgrass Singers. Elizabeth will be deeply missed by all.
Elizabeth is preceded by her husband of 62 years, Johnny Mack Brisby; her parents, George and Lottie Griffith; and all her five siblings: George, Barbara, Lottie, Mike, and Timothy.
Her survivors include her children Allison Roorda (Craig), Mark Brisby (Jana), Josh Brisby, Nathan Brisby (Stephen); grand-children Tim (Hallie), Bekah, Matt (Carolyn), Josh, Morganne (Peter), Jordanne, Gabriel, Aaron, Emmie, Isaiah, Owen, Dean; great-grandchildren Felicity, Melody, Rosemary, Samantha, Addie Jane, and two more on the way. She is godmother to several godchildren and “Aunt Woogie” to numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved as her own children.
Graveside Service will be held on Friday, October 3, at 11:00 a.m. at Oakwood Cemetery (2124 South 5th Street, Waco, Texas 76706).
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 4, at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church Richmond (502 South 5th Street, Richmond, Texas 77469).
