December 18, 2025
Geneva Yvonne Snipes Vaughan, born July 27, 1940, at her home in Waco, Texas, passed peacefully from this life in the early morning of Monday, December 8, 2025. The daughter of Robert and Velma Snipes, Geneva possessed a sharp mind and natural academic talent from a young age. At seventeen she followed her heart, eloping with the love of her life, Ronald Rudolph Vaughan, a decision she embraced wholeheartedly for the rest of her days.
Family was the heart and soul of Geneva’s world. As the devoted mother of four, she created a home filled with stability, warmth, and care. Geneva cherished her grandchildren and spent countless joyful hours playing “beauty shop,” letting them braid and style her hair while laughter filled the room. The family made treasured memories on trips to South Padre Island and through annual family reunions that Geneva looked forward to each year.
Geneva had many passions. She loved singing, sewing, and caring for animals, always showing tenderness to any creature that crossed her path. The kitchen was often where she could be found, cooking or baking for those she loved, she was known for her flavorful meat-loaf earning its place as a family favorite. If she wasn’t on her feet, she was likely on the phone, catching up with loved ones and offering encouragement, advice, or simply good conversation.
She was also the greatest supporter of her husband Ron’s artistic talents. Geneva proudly accompanied him to weekend art shows, helping promote his work by designing and distributing brochures. Their partnership was one built on love, teamwork, and mutual devotion.
Geneva was dedicated to serving others throughout her life. Professionally, she worked proudly as a Materials Coordinator for the Midway ISD Special Education Department, approaching her responsibilities with compassion, diligence, and an unwavering commitment to students and staff. She also served as the secretary for the First United Methodist Church of McGregor, a role that allowed her to live out her love for giving and serving others in meaningful, everyday ways.
A committed community member, Geneva served as a PTA Chair and Cub Scout Den Leader, offering her time and energy to support children and families across her community.
Geneva is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ronald Rudolph Vaughan, her son Ronald Rudolph Vaughan Jr., her parents Robert and Velma Snipes, and her siblings Hazel, Helen, Joyce, Lester, and John.
She is survived by her children: Gena Vaughan Hankins and husband Patrick, Rebecca Vaughan Clarkson and husband Christopher, Raymond Randall Vaughan and wife Laura; Daughter-in-law Kimberly Aleman Vaughan and by her brothers Gaylon and Ron.
She is also survived by her treasured grandchildren: Leah, Clarissa, Christy, Casey, Ariana, Allison, Carri, Andrew, Ronnie, Hudson, and Veronica, along with many nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren who will continue to honor her memory.
Geneva leaves behind a legacy of gentleness, creativity, laughter, and unwavering love. Her quiet strength, servant’s heart, and the joy she brought to those around her will remain forever in the lives of the family she so deeply cherished.
Geneva’s life will be celebrated with a memorial service on Thursday, December 18, at the Methodist Church in McGregor at 4:00 pm.
