October 14, 2026
Verla “Bunny” Allison, a longtime McGregor resident, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, October 3, 2026. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 18, at 2:30 P.M. at The First United Methodist Church of McGregor. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall.
Bunny was born on November 7, 1937, in San Antonio, Texas, to Willie and Leona Mills. She grew up in McGregor, Texas, and was a graduate of McGregor High School. On September 8, 1956, she married Harold Dean Allison of McGregor, and they enjoyed 63 years of life together. Their son, Paul Mills Allison, was born November 6, 1966.
She began her career as a legal secretary with the firm of Bryan, Maxwell, Wilson, and Olson. She enjoyed her work and would go on to work with Lyn Olson for 50 years, and form a lasting friendship with the Olson family.
She attended many McGregor ISD activities throughout the years, but especially enjoyed football games and track meets. Her house was always open to her son’s classmates, and snacks seemed to appear at just the right time. She was also a member of the First United Methodist Church of McGregor, where she faithfully served for many years.
Bunny loved to read, swim laps in her pool, and she enjoyed a good margarita with Mexican food. She loved traveling to West Texas to visit her sister and trips to the metroplex to see her brother and his family. Countless weekends were spent at the Olson Ranch in Valley Mills working on projects and enjoying the river. And, she always cherished her lifelong friendships in McGregor, where even into her eighties, she attended birthday club gatherings with friends and acquaintances.
At the end of the day, her passion was her family. From trips to South Padre Island to watching football at home, she was happiest sharing those experiences with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, Dean Allison, her sister, Earline Lewis, and her brothers, Gary Mills and Billy Mills.
Survivors include her son, Paul Allison and wife, Robbie Jo Allison; a sister-in-law, Peggy Cunningham; a sister-in-law, Kathy Mills; four grandchildren, Travis Allison and wife Lauren, Troy Allison and wife Skylar, Wyatt Allison, Will Allison; five great-grandchildren, Tatum, Carli Jo, Bodhi, Londyn, Kai, and many nieces and nephews.
Bunny lived a full and beautiful life surrounded by friends and family. She was an amazing wife, mother, grandma, aunt, and friend.
