Whoever turns a sinner from the error of their way will save them from death

James 5: 19. My brother and sisters, if one of you should wander from the truth and someone should bring that person back, 20. Remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of their way will save them from death and cover over a multitude of sin.

Ramon is in his 50s now and you can tell he has had a rough life. He was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, in a gang-infested neighborhood. According to Ramon, there were gangs on every corner, and if you are not careful, you could find yourself in enemy territory and could be badly beaten or even killed. His friends were notorious criminals, and listening to his testimony they put the wild, wild west outlaws to shame.
He told me that at the age of 15, he was stealing cars and running from the law, but he was loyal to those he considered friends. The friends he had, he made sure that they would never become an enemy. All he wanted was to fit in, be accepted, have fun. This was all he knew, and this was what he wanted.
His mother is a praying woman! For decades, she held her family faces before the Lord in prayer, and she had to pray a little harder for Ramon. She held him accountable no matter what! One day, Ramon stole a car and drove it home. His plans were to take a shower, get ready for his date and go out on the town. His mother asked: “whose car was that?”

“It’s one of my friends Mama,” was his answer. He got into the shower, but when he was finished, he opened the door only to find two police officers standing in the house, waiting for him. His mom had called them, because she believed that the car was stolen, which it was.
His lifestyle was taking its toll, in and out of prison, one day of course, in a gang battle, he was shot in the face. He thought it was his last time of being alive. Going to the Hospital, and after surgery, woke up with his hands cuffed to the bed. You guessed it, on his way back to prison. And yet his mother prayed, she never gave up on God and she never gave up on him!

Out of prison, his family’s life was now in jeopardy. One day while not at home, a rival gang came to his house looking for him. His 8-year-old son, was told, “give your Daddy, a message, we are coming for him!” Afraid and exhausted, Ramon said, he could not breathe. That night, while asleep, something happened that changed his life.

As he was asleep, the roof of the house disappeared and he could see the star, which was something that all his life, he had not taken notice. As he stared at the beauty of the stars, lighting came down and hit him on top of his head. He jumped out of the bed, wondering was it real or just a dream. Things were beginning to change; for life would never be the same.
He had to get his family away from the lifestyle, he was living. Leaving L.A., they moved to Texas. He accepted Jesus as his Savior and has never been the same since. Only because of a praying Mama, a sinner was saved. James 4: 20. Remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of their way will save them from death and cover over a multitude of sin.
