Pirates to face Riesel in regional round on Friday

The Crawford High School Pirates will look to move another step closer to a possible trip to the Class 2A state title game on Friday when they face off with District 8-2A rival Riesel in the regional round of the state playoffs. The two teams are scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. at Midway's historic Panther Stadium.

Crawford, the District 8-2A champion, heads into the showdown sporting a perfect 12-0 record. Riesel, the fourth-place finisher in the 8-2A race, comes in at 7-5.

Crawford defeated Riesel by a 43-0 score on Oct. 28 in a key district matchup.

The winner of the game will advance to face either Tolar or Hamilton in the state quarterfinals next week.
